Share the Wonder — A Free Community Event (part 2)

The museum’s traditional holiday family festival attracts upwards of 1,200 children and adults to a myriad of activities and events taking place throughout the museum campus. This year the Farnsworth will hold the event twice — on Saturdays November 30 and December 14. The three-hour events will feature the following stations at which participating children may have their Share the Wonder passports stamped:

Saturday, December 14, 2013— 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • The Casco Bay Tummlers —a four-piece Klezmer band in the museum library
  • The American Magic-Lantern Theatre —a Victorian Christmas Magic-Lantern Show in the auditorium
  • Gingerbread House Workshops— led by Sweet Sensations/3 Dogs Cafe at the Gamble Center 
  • Holiday card-making in the Gamble Center

Please note: The Gingerbread House Workshops are full.

These programs are free to the public and museum admission will be waived to all throughout the day.

In addition to this day's events and programs Share the Wonder will feature the following programming throughout the holiday season:

First Friday Film: The Hard Nut
The Strand Theatre
Mark Morris’ modern dance version of The Nutcracker, set in the 1970s and pulling more directly from the darker original E. T. A. Hoffman story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Tuesday, December 10, 3:30 p.m. – Holiday Movie: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (52 mintues)

Wednesday, December 11, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – Holiday Craft: Decorate Your Own Wrapping Paper

Thursday, December 12, 3:30 p.m. – Holiday Movie: A Charlie Brown Christmas (25 minutes)
