Origins of Taste: Salud! A History of Drink

The November 13 lecture will examine wide array of beverages from the Neolithic Period to the present. An outline of the history of beer (Egypt), wine (Greece), coffee (Africa), and tea (India/China) will be traced, and their respective impact on their countries of origin will be detailed in color illustrations. The dietary and health aspects of these beverages will be considered, as well how these drinks were celebrated in the arts.

This two-part lecture series is a special community event being cosponsored by the Camden Conference and the Farnsworth Art Museum. Community Events are lead-ups to the February 2014 Camden Conference titled “The Global Politics of Food and Water.” Keith Collins MD and Farnsworth Director of Education Roger Dell will each speak in both lectures of the series.

Individual lectures:
$12 for Camden Conference and Farnsworth members, $16 for nonmembers, $6 for college and university students. Free for middle and high school aged students.
