On the first Friday of each month, from June through October, the Farnsworth Art Museum will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of First Fridays at the Farnsworth proudly sponsored by The First

Again in 2015, the museum will be accessible on First Fridays through the Main Street doors leading directly into the galleries. 

First Fridays at the Farnsworth is part of the Arts in Rockland First Fridays, during which all 21 member-galleries of Arts in Rockland stage an Arts Walk from 5 to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, May 17, The Farnsworth Art Museum will be opening a new student exhibition entitled Stories of the Land and Its People: An Arts Integrated School Initiative for Midcoast Maine. The public opening will begin with a 1 p.m. program at The Strand Theatre in Rockland, followed by a preview and reception in the museum and at Julia's Gallery, at the corner of Union Street and Elm Street. Please note that Julia's Gallery is not handicapped accessible.

The Farnsworth Art Museum, in partnership with Bay Chamber Concerts, is pleased to present our third  season of intimate Music at Noon lunchtime concerts. 

Enjoy a midday break with light lunch and lovely music in the relaxed, intimate atmosphere of the Farnsworth Museum in downtown Rockland. The hour-long performance begins at noon. Ticket includes a freshly-prepared lunch provided by Atlantic Baking Company plus access to the museum following the performance.

Everyman Repertory Theatre presents the Shaker play As It Is in Heaven, by Arlene Hutton. This play, mounted in partnership with the Farnsworth and it's exhibition: The Shakers: From Mount Lebanon to the World, will be performed at the Rockport Opera House on two consecutive weekends, from February 20 through March 1. Farnsworth members are entitled to a $5 discount on tickets.


Join us on Friday, July 10, 2015 for the 10th Anniversary Farnsworth Summer Gala. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Strand Theatre, and continues throughout the museum itself, with guests entering through our Main Street doors. The event's creative team has been diligently at work and the evening is shaping up to be spectacular, featuring fun and fabulous décor and a delightful dinner, followed by an after party in downtown Rockland.

Drawing inspiration from the Hindu festival of Holi, the Farnsworth [Collective] once again brings together midcoast's creative community, Farnsworth members and fun-seekers for the annual BASH.

Join us on Sunday, December 14, at 6 p.m. at the Fog Bar & Cafe for an evening of Holiday Card Making with the [Collective]. This program is part of the museum's Share the Wonder Celebration and is free..
