The Farnsworth Art Museum invites everyone to join us on Saturday, February 15 from 4-7 p.m. to honor Celebrating Love!, the museum's special Robert Indiana exhibition on display only from February 14 through March 16. Together we will celebrate fifty years of this iconic image... as well as midcoast Maine's creative community.

The Farnsworth Art Museum, in partnership with Bay Chamber Concerts, is pleased to present our second winter season of intimate Music at Noon lunchtime concerts. Each concert takes place on the second Wednesday of the month during January, February, March, and April.
 
Spend your lunch hour in downtown Rockland enjoying a simple, tasty warm lunch from Atlantic Baking Company while surrounded by art and music in the beautiful environs of the Farnsworth Art Museum’s Library. These four diverse, fifty minute performances are a perfect way to unplug from the workday and relax with a community of fellow music and art lovers.

The Collective presents a Wizard of Oz Trivia Night at the Fog Bar on Main Street in Rockland.

The museum’s traditional holiday family festival attracts upwards of 1,200 children and adults to a myriad of activities and events taking place throughout the museum campus. This year the Farnsworth will hold the event twice — on Saturdays November 30 and December 14. The three-hour events will feature the following stations at which participating children may have their Share the Wonder passports stamped:

Saturday, December 14, 2013— 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • The Casco Bay Tummlers —a four-piece Klezmer band in the museum library
  • The American Magic-Lantern Theatre —a Victorian Christmas Magic-Lantern Show in the auditorium

Join The Collective—the museum’s newest membership group—for its third annual bash in downtown Rockland. Drawing on the museum’s Wonderful World of Oz exhibition, this party is not to be missed.

Drinks and light snacks will be served amongst an atmosphere created by The Collective Steering Committee and other community volunteers. Tickets are limited and may be purchased at the Farnsworth's Museum Store.

Join the Farnsworth Art Museum for our annual Fall Family Festival on Saturday, October 19, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the museum sculpture garden. There will be free-style pumpkin carving, facepainting, crafts, live music by The Rusty Hinges, and refreshments provided by Home Kitchen Café. Families will be able to have their pictures taken with life-size cut outs of the Wizard of Oz characters and will be able to watch It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown showing in the museum auditorium. A parade will take place on Main Street, departing from the sculpture garden at 5:30 p.m. Families are invited to participate in the parade by wearing costumes and masks. Some masks will be made available thanks to Shoe String Theatre, who will be teaching an after school workshop the week leading up to the festival & parade.

On the first Friday of each month, from June through October, the Farnsworth Art Museum will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of First Fridays at the Farnsworth proudly sponsored by The First.

New for 2013, the museum will be accessible on First Fridays through the Main Street doors leading directly into the galleries

First Fridays at the Farnsworth is part of the Arts in Rockland First Fridays, during which all 21 member-galleries of Arts in Rockland stage an Arts Walk from 5 to 8 p.m.
