Join us on Thursday, August 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. for a book signing with artist Jamie Wyeth and author Susan Goldman Rubin. Jamie and Susan will be on hand to sign copies of Everybody Paints! The Lives and Art of the Wyeth Family, by Susan Goldman Rubin. The artist will be available to sign prints and other items as well but will only sign two items per person.

Throughout the summer, David Rockwell, nephew of Andrew Wyeth will share with visitors his recollections of his uncle Andrew Wyeth, the Olsons, and summers in Cushing.

Rockwell, whose father Dudley regaled visotors to the Olson House for years, has a B.S. in Education and a MA in History from Emporia State University, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Studies from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He has been teaching at Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut, for 49 years and currently teaches Environmental/Political and Educational Philosophy, as well as Native American Studies. He chaired the History Department there for 25 years and is presently the Chair of the Leadership Department.

The talks are open to all Olson House visitors.

On the first Friday of each month, from June through October, the Farnsworth Art Museum will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of First Fridays at the Farnsworth proudly sponsored by The First

Again in 2014, the museum will be accessible on First Fridays through the Main Street doors leading directly into the galleries. 

First Fridays at the Farnsworth is part of the Arts in Rockland First Fridays, during which all 21 member-galleries of Arts in Rockland stage an Arts Walk from 5 to 8 p.m.

Aspiring NYC creative director, Madi Lyons, arrives on the rocky shores of Owls Head, Maine, hoping for a relaxing respite from Madison Avenue. Shortly after settling in at the quaint rental cottage, she is awoken by the local sheriff with startling news: A woman has been murdered on her private beach. A violent encounter next door and an elusive stranger draw Madi deeper into Mahalas Lane’s mysterious past, while a magnetic attraction propels her into the sheriff’s welcoming arms.

On Friday, July 11, The Farnsworth will hold its 9th annual summer gala in downtown Rockland. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Strand Theatre, and continues throughout the museum itself, with guests entering through our Main Street doors. The event's creative team has been diligently at work and the evening is shaping up to be spectacular, featuring fun and fabulous décor and a delightful dinner, provided by Swan’s Way Catering.
 
This year’s event will include a special presentation of the Farnsworth Art Museum’s prestigious Maine in America Award to the Shakers of Sabbathday Lake, Maine for their important contributions to Maine's role in American art.

Join us for a special Wizard of OZ themed MUSIC AT NOON concert with University of Southern Maine’s Ed Reichert and his students Carolyn Glaude, Eileen Hanley, Danielle Lane, Matthew West. Repertoire will be announced from the stage.
 
The Farnsworth Art Museum invites everyone to join us on Saturday, February 15 from 4-7 p.m. to honor Celebrating Love!, the museum's special Robert Indiana exhibition on display only from February 14 through March 16. Together we will celebrate fifty years of this iconic image... as well as midcoast Maine's creative community.
